Logline

When grieving widow Mara Vale discovers that her supposedly dead husband is alive and was once known as Adrian Cross, heir to a powerful family, she begins unraveling a double life that reaches back to her own father — forcing her to question whether her marriage was a deception, a love story, or both.

Synopsis

Six months after burying her husband, Daniel Vale, Mara Vale attends the funeral of Richard Hale, a former associate of Daniel’s who contacted her shortly before dying and claimed to have something that belonged to her husband.

Across the cemetery, Mara sees the impossible: Daniel is alive.

He is watching the funeral from a distance and looks just as shocked to see Mara as she is to see him.

Mara chases him through the cemetery but loses him among the graves. While searching, she discovers a nearby headstone bearing the name ADRIAN JAMES CROSS — 1991–2021. Fresh flowers and an old memorial card display Daniel’s photograph.

Mara searches the name and discovers an archived 2021 funeral for Adrian Cross.

Same face. Different name. Another funeral.

As Mara investigates, she learns that Daniel Vale was never the whole truth. He was born Adrian Cross and has deep ties to the powerful Cross family and Cross Meridian.

Worse, evidence reveals that Daniel knew who Mara was before they supposedly met by chance.

The mystery becomes deeply personal: Why did he choose her? Was their marriage real? And if Daniel truly loved her, why did he let her believe he was dead?
