Synopsis
For three years, Maeve Holloway has lived inside a love story almost nobody knows exists.
Her relationship with Dorian Blackwood, heir to one of the oldest vampire bloodlines, has been hidden for her protection. No public photographs. No shared address. No acknowledgement before the powerful Nocturne Court.
Then Maeve receives a message from Dorian telling her to come to the Blackwood archive alone. She finds him lying in blood.
Dorian survives — but when he wakes, he remembers his family, his enemies and nearly two centuries of existence. He remembers everything except her.
Worse, the attack wasn’t ordinary trauma. Someone deliberately removed every memory connected to Maeve.
To Dorian, the human woman who knows his private rooms, his scars, his habits and his deepest secrets looks less like a forgotten lover and more like a potential conspirator.
Yet his instincts tell a different story. He reaches for her before remembering he shouldn’t. Protects her without knowing why. Dreams of moments he cannot consciously remember. And when Maeve gets too close, fragments of their former relationship return as supernatural “blood echoes.”
Maeve soon discovers that Dorian had been secretly investigating an ancient object known as the Origin Relic. Destroying it would not kill the Blackwood bloodline. It would make them mortal.
Dorian’s enemies believe he told Maeve where it is. Maeve doesn’t remember him doing so. And Dorian can’t remember loving her.
As fragments of their past return, the mystery becomes inseparable from the romance: Can Maeve trust the man Dorian used to be? And if his memories never fully return, will he choose her a second time?
The Supernatural Story Engine
Vampire memories leave behind emotional traces known as blood echoes. A conscious memory can be erased, but its emotional imprint cannot always be removed.
Maeve’s touch, scent, blood, familiar locations, particular words and moments of intense emotion can trigger fragments of Dorian’s lost relationship. This creates a repeating vertical story mechanism:

Lead Characters
Maeve Holloway
A talented rare-manuscript conservator whose work brought her into the Blackwood family’s private archive — and eventually into Dorian’s life. Intelligent, observant and emotionally resilient, Maeve spent three years accepting secrecy because Dorian convinced her it kept her safe. Losing him without actually losing him forces Maeve to question whether being privately loved was ever enough.
Dorian Blackwood
A 187-year-old vampire and heir to the Blackwood bloodline. Controlled, intimidating and fiercely private, Dorian remembers almost two centuries of existence after the attack — but has lost precisely the three years containing Maeve. He initially suspects her. Unfortunately for Dorian, his instincts haven’t forgotten what his mind has.
Silas Blackwood
Dorian’s younger brother and one of the few people who knew about Maeve. Silas becomes an uneasy ally, but Maeve gradually realizes he knows more about Dorian’s missing memories than he admits.
Octavia Blackwood
Dorian’s powerful older sister. Octavia doesn’t fear Maeve simply because she is human. She fears what Dorian became after falling in love with her: willing to question his family, the Nocturne Court and immortality itself.
Sabine Laurent
An ancient and influential member of the Nocturne Court. Elegant, patient and dangerous, Sabine believes Dorian discovered information capable of destabilizing the oldest vampire families — and that he hid the answer somewhere inside his memories of Maeve.
